Brown Face by Carissa Atallah

Cat served as visiting lecturer/guest director for UCR’s TFDP (Theatre, Film, and Digital Production) 170 course - Production. Cat directed the West Coast premiere of Brown Face, collaborated with faculty and visiting artists designers to conceptualize and realize full design and staging of show, and mentored student assistant director and student stage management team. They worked with students through holistic, engaged practices to create an ensemble-based work that illuminated and realized a brand new play while also empowering students through trauma-informed work that utilized modern practices of warmups, cooldowns, de-roling, with an emphasis on student wellness as they explored a radical and difficult text.
